ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a certified interactive course that helps care givers learn suicide first aid intervention. The emphasis is on helping a person to stay safe and seek further help.
Action Mental Health’s ASIST programme is available to anyone (aged 18+), anywhere, who would like to feel better equipped in interactions with someone who has thoughts of suicide or with groups at increased risk of suicide. We believe it could be particularly helpful for counsellors, teachers, ministers, those in a health or justice role, community workers, youth workers, emergency service workers and mental health practitioners. Please note that due to the nature of the content, the ASIST programme is not recommended for anyone who has been bereaved by suicide within the last 12 months.
